Yellowstone Rattle

Joe R.
Fredericksburg, Maryland
“Materials created by Mother Earth and crafted by the Soul Shine Rattles. I was extremely impressed with the Yellowstone rattle I received. For me, the elk and cutthroat are a symbol of strength and peace. My time in Yellowstone was a spiritual experience symbolized by bugling elk and rising cutthroat. This rattle helps to keep me balanced and grounded as it brings me back to a less hectic time. The detail of this rattle is extraordinary and it is very easy to see the amount of time and care that went into creating this one-of-a-kind piece. Whether I’m looking at it or holding it in hand, I am very thankful to own this rattle. “
The Yellowstone Rattle depicts an Elk on the front, with Arctic driftwood and Beaufort Sea pebbles at the base. A Cutthroat trout is on the back, with Beaufort Sea pebbles at the base. The rattle is mounted on caribou antler and trimmed with Alaskan Birch.

“Astoundingly beautiful! She is a joyful work of art to admire, hear and hold. Chock full of healing energy”
Under The Sea was a whimsical design featuring an Octopus on the front and a Seal playing in bull kelp on the back. It is mounted on caribou antler and trimmed with North Atlantic Gray Seal fur that was repurposed from an old jacket purchased in Europe.

“I am so in love! Thank You! I have no words right now for the gratitude I feel inside that you have made this for me. Not only is it extraordinarily beautiful but the fact that your hands and heart made it is priceless.”
Day and Night Raven depicts contrasting light schemes. The rattle is mounted on caribou antler and trimmed with Red Fox tail.
Odin

“This rattle is such a joy to have, hold and hear. I am forever blessed to have it in my life. My gratitude goes beyond words.”

Odin’s helmet is made from Arctic driftwood from an abandoned Raven nest. His face is Beaufort Sea stone, his eye is Alaskan Rose Quartz. His beard is made from beach sedge collected on Kachemak Bay, and he is bordered with Fireweed bloom. The backside portrays Huginn and Muninn, his Ravens: it is hand-painted acrylic and bordered with Yellow Marsh Marigold blooms. Odin’s spear was hand carved from Arctic driftwood and fire hardened.
Odin was a challenging rattle build in many ways: I had to research the UK import laws and quickly realized that exporting antler and fur from Alaska to UK would not be approved by Customs.
